RECOMMENDED CAMERA GEAR
One of the most common questions that I am asked is "what camera gear do you use?" The products below are what I am currently using or recommend.
I am a big believer in keeping my kit as small and light as possible. When I shot Nikon I only used a 16-35mm and a 70-200mm. Now with Sony I only use a 12-24mm and a 24-105mm (I included the Sony 16-35 as well we use it for video and it is a more practical all around lens for many). For travel, landscape and western I do just fine with only the two lenses. While this is a little extreme and is not for everyone, I love it! Using the small Sony bodies, only two small lenses and the crazy small and light Really Right Stuff TFC-14 and BH-30 tripod combo, it makes for an amazingly light, small and capable kit.

Please note that although the gear I have listed is fairly expensive, you DO NOT need expensive gear to create excellent images. Shoot with the best gear you can afford, but keep in mind learning be a better photographer is the most important thing you can do. While I do get a small kick back when you use these links and codes below, I assure you that I only promote and share gear that I personally use and love.
When you click on a product you will be taken to the B&H Photo Video website. I have been ordering through B&H for 12 years and I trust them completely. If you use the links to make a purchase I get a small commission.

Switching from Nikon to Sony
Watch for a few and thoughts on why I finally switched from shooting Nikon to Sony and got an A7Riii instead of a Nikon D850 as a pro Landscape and Travel photographer. This is a mini review of the the Sony A7iii with the Sony 12-24mm from the first few days of shooting with it in the field.
